Good Morning Gentle Readers,
The kids know it's officially Christmas Season at Casa de las Rocas Grande when we crank up Lynard Skynard's Run Run Rudolph. Dimes to donuts you've not heard it although it's the hands-down best version of that tune ever.
Dwight Yoakam's cover sounds like Question Mark & the Mysterians sat in on the set. Chuck Berry's is, of course, the classic, but is limited by the technology of the day. Keith Richards? Ahem. Foghat? I don't think so. Bryan Adams will get your feet tapping, but all in all, none can hold a Christmas candle to the Skynard version. It rocks in a get-down, fried-hockey-boogie way that only Southern blues rock can do.
I can't put it on the site because it sucks too much bandwidth and somebody's bound to sue me. But if you came by the house I'd play it for you. Drop me an email and maybe I'll play it for you in your own living room. That's almost the same thing.
You can listen to a snippet of it (or get the whole album) here for under ten bucks.
