The Temecula Valley Balloon & Wine Festival kicked off officially today.
I've been many times. It tends to get hot in the afternoon. Lake Skinner is pretty but the event isn't held close enough to the lake to take advantage of that. The entertainment is decent. The drawback is this: like all events of this kind, you're stuck in certain areas until you're wine glass is depleted. There is no wandering around enjoying all the event has to offer while enjoying your wine. Cuz dang, some jerk might get drunk and cause trouble. Rather than arrest or shoot the specific offender it's always better to make it less enjoyable for all the rest of us.
The best time ever was when Brian Setzer headlined and my little son Jake danced his little 18-month-old backside right off while the rest of the kids in our party collapsed on the grass in slumber. Setzer was gracious enough to run through all the Stray Cats stuff along with the new stuff. To this day Jake is still a Rockabilly fan.
Is it fun? Sure. Is it worth it? Maybe. Is it crowded? Generally. Is Melissa working? Probably.
Weather forecast for Saturday is 99 degrees.
