TWC is really annoyed that ATT bought out SBC so now my provider is ATT. There is the obvious sell out to NSA to be irritated about but ATT is such a crappy company and has consistently gone out of its way to snake its customer base.
Like when we disconnected our old home phone number a few months ago and ATT removed all of our discount plans and began charging fifty bucks a minute to make local toll calls. It cost three hours to get it back to where it was and although there was some credit offered it only amounted to about a third of the bogus charges. But I digress......
If you dial 611 for repair service you get a message encouraging you to handle the trouble online. But if you go online to the website you can't handle a repair problem at all because all you get is the repair service telephone number.
The repair service tests the line while you're on the phone, but won't tell you a thing even though ATT knows at this point the trouble is on their end. You have to commit to a $55.00 charge to get them to fix the problem.
True enough, since it is ATT's problem you won't have to pay the charge, but you still have to commit up front to get them off their dead asses to do anything.
Wonder if I can bill them $55.00 for the time I spent this morning figuring out that it wasn't the mice eating the line but instead some ATT technician disconnected Mrs TWC's business line at the junction box yesterday mid-day and then went home for the weekend.
Oh and don't get me wrong, everybody is entitled to a few mistakes but the process to rectify the technician's oversight is incredibly clumsy and difficult to navigate.
