Good Morning Gentle Readers,
The chattering classes have often described the internet community as soul-less, lacking the human contact that marked our migration from caves to high rises. Like so much else, they're wrong about this too.
TWC has met a slew of fascinating people, some of whom have become life long friends and one who stood godfather to my children. The commonality among them is that before the Internet we simply would not have crossed paths.
Among those is Mal from Oz, who calls Brisbane Australia home and is the proprietor of Wine Amateur, which was recently nominated for Best Wine Blog at Fermentation. Following a bit of poking and prodding, he's on the mend right now, but to paraphrase Flaco Jimenez, the worst is yet to come because the doc says no wine for six long weeks.
Mal, you are in our thoughts and we wish you well on the road back to health. Tell your doctor that no less a giant than Louis Pasteur proclaimed that wine is the most healthful and most hygienic of all beverages. Course, that was back when everyone shared a dipper at the communal well and antibiotics hadn't been invented yet.
