Good Morning Gentle Readers,
It's just not okay to be fashionably late when it's five o'clock somewhere. Despite that, it was half past cocktail hour when I arrived at the Montage resort in Laguna Beach. While chatting with Terry Gannon (Silicon Valley not ABC), Jim Curley, and Brian Snyder, I was introduced around to a charming group of fellow travelers when someone nearby exclaimed Hey! You're The Wine Commonsewer! Aren't you?
Well, that's never happened before.
Although I was only a couple of sips into my first glass of Mollydooker's Two Left Feet, I am at a loss to remember, Dear Gentle Reader, just who you are, for which I offer my sincerest and most heartfelt apologies. To be sure, the place was teeming and the crowd was boisterous, but still.
And why is it that once people acquire a drink they refuse to move away from the bar, thereby turning the thought of another delightful glass of red into an unattainable goal.
Two Left Feet is a great big wine from South Australia. If it were from California we'd call it a Meritage as it is a blend of 65% Shiraz, 19% Cabernet & 16% Merlot.
Deep purple in the glass, this complex and aromatic wine exhibits all the best characteristics of its ingredients. Parker lavished a well earned 94 points on this intensely opulent creation that features black cherry, blackberry, plum, vanilla, a little spice, and a nice long finish.
This is, unquestionably, the best Aussie wine TWC has had to date. Better yet, you should be able to find this for around twenty bucks U.S.
Food Pairings? Well, Crocodile, Snake, Emu, Wallaby Cheese, and Kangaroo are suggested at the website. I'd say this wine is pretty versatile and will go well with anything. Or nothing.
And yes, it was the same Montage Resort that was the lead story last night on Eye Witless News at ten. Same room that Melissa & Jennifer shared the weekend before.
