Good Morning Gentle Readers,
You know, I was only being snarky and sarcastic when I suggested this:
Or maybe we should just drop the pretense that we're all grown-up intelligent adults living in a free country and mandate annual colonoscopies and bran cereal breakfasts for everyone over fifty. Wouldn't that do light years more good for the populace than nutrition labeling on wine bottles?
Apparently, John Edwards is dead serious. From Col Hogan:
According to an AP story.....John Edwards.....is proposing a socialized medicine system in which everyone is required to go see the doctor for "preventative maintenance."
Johnny's money quote:
[The plan] requires that everybody get preventive care. If you are going to be in the system, you can't choose not to go to the doctor for 20 years. You have to go in and be checked and make sure that you are OK.
Edwards recently proposed comprehensive safe drinking water legislation:
I hold out no great hope for the Republic except to note that the innovators and the technology people are a big help here. Our overall wealth and plenitude, together with the geometrically increasing sum of human knowledge help us mortals to leap frog past the stifling hand of bureaucracy faster than they can reach for the squelch button. Just don't try to get a grading permit.
