Good Afternoon Gentle Readers,
I want to thank everyone for the phone calls and emails. We are safe and in no danger. None of our friends and acquaintances who were in imminent danger lost homes or lives and for that we are grateful. Our hearts go out to all those families whose lives have been forever altered by the windblown firestorms of the last few of days.
Here’s the view at noon on Thursday from Casa de las Rocas Grandes looking west toward The Retreat, Eagle Glen, Saddleback Mountain, & Corona. Santiago and Modjeska Canyons are burning beyond the unseen ridgeline as the Santiago fire burns southwest through mostly virgin national forest toward Ortega Highway and Lake Elsinore. It is now lightly snowing ash as the Santa Ana winds subside then reverse direction creating a cooling onshore flow from the coast.
We Report, You Decipher.
