New Year's Eve is like every other night; there is no pause in the march of the universe, no breathless moment of silence among created things that the passage of another twelve months may be noted; and yet no man has quite the same thoughts this evening that come with the coming of darkness on other nights.

It would appear that Annie's hound, George, got a bit of an early start. I warned him about going drinking with the Kosmik Kid.
TWC ties another wrinkle on his birthday cake just about now. I was talking to my pop the other day about that very phenom while simultaneously whining about the geometric progression of the aging process when he butts right in (walked all over me in mid-sentence) to say.....

Earlier today, That Boy, Jake, took his mother to task about some cheap white wine she bought for the mushrooms......
Mom! Why are you buying white wine? You know Dad only drinks red wine.
I was touched. That's right up there with the House Blond leaving a glass of red out for Santa.
Oh and don't forget these wonderful Times Square panoramas from years past.
If nothing else, New Year's Eve is about the glint of tiny sand crystals, shimmering in the hour glass, relentlessly, steadily pursuing gravity, without your consent. There is only one other alternative, altogether too unpleasant to contemplate and, so I leave you with the words of T S Eliot.....
For last year's words belong to last year's language, And next year's words await another voice. And to make an end is to make a beginning.

And then at midnight, we shall invoke the world's National Anthem. Shaddup, I know the Chinese have a different tune, but in Tokyo, it's already done.
