2003 Estancia Meritage:
Happy Anniversary Babe
Gentle Readers,
Fate intervened leaving Mrs TWC and myself to our own devices on a Saturday night that happened to be Anniversary Eve. Karla lined us up to do jazz and drinks, but Friday in LA about did us in. We opted for a chick-movie, a 2003 Estancia Meritage, and (later) a little relaxing conversation out on the deck accompanied by a thousand city lights and a warm breezy evening...... It was sort of like a flashback to life before kids.

We're planning a big too-do come May 18, 2010, which is twenty-five years and a Tuesday. Tuesday Afternoon. Figure on Saturday the 15th.
The 2003 Estancia is lovely although it may not be quite as good as the 2004 that TWC reviewed here.
And for the lady.....
Saw Chicago in concert in Memphis longer ago than I care to remember. Hadn't paid much attention and it was just an accidental whim, somebody had an extra ticket. Yeah, sure, I'll go. No opening act, just two and a half hours of great stuff. Everybody's been to the best concert ever....but this was the best concert ever.
As Always,
Miguel de Casa de las Rocas Grandes

Happy Anniversary! Wow, the years do fly by! 24 years, really?

The best concert ever did in fact begin with Chicago, but they opened for Crosby Stills & Nash at the Gorge Amphitheater.

CS&N left after a very long set, and I turned to my date and said, "That was great, but I sure would love to hear "Southern Cross" played under this beautiful summer night sky.
Although the stage was dark, I thought I saw Stephen Stills blond hair as he ran across the stage followed by the shadows of Crosby and Nash. Then the lights came up slowly as the opening chords to Southern Cross rang out.

I still get goose bumps every time I remember it.
I've also seen James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, and The Beach Boys perform there. The venue was created by the Champs de Brionne winery. They have long since sold it, but you still can see a bit of their vineyards when you walk from the parking lot. There is no better large outdoor theater!

So, if you saw Chicago in Memphis, did you have steak for dinner, or barbecue ribs?
Happy Anniversary!

Nice touch on the anniversary announcement. The missus and I especially liked the way you and Lisa gave the kids the slip for a few precious minutes. Having finished our 17th matrimonial lap earlier in the month, we can heartily appreciate the achievement.
Two more to twenty-five!
Way to go!
