Fireworks: Statue of Liberty + Iwo Jima Memorial

Good Morning Gentle Readers,

For many of us out west, fireworks of any kind are prohibited because of the extreme fire danger that arrives with our nation’s birthday. To help mitigate that grievous misfortune The Wine Commonsewer offers a rather creative alternative complete with exciting visual and sound effects (Rated G for the entire family).

This is kind of a cool take off on Lady Liberty.

UPDATE: Here's one take on fire hazards and fireworks.

TWC: Not sure how a good libertarian such as myself feels about the outright ban in this county, where the fire danger is extreme. A blanket ban that stretches from the fire prone foothills to the sand and rock of the Colorado river area where fire danger is minimal.

DD: Seems to me that you make people responsible for their actions- if they start a fire, they pay...for the fighting and for restitution.  And if they don't have enough $$ to pay, they'd better not play.  If not enough to cover the bill, how about bringing back debtor's prison?

As Ever,

The Wine Commonsewer

Thanks for the fireworks link. I'll have to pass that on.

Fun! I feel sad for y'all not getting any fireworks :-(

Come on over to my house! We have the biggest display in the surrounding county right here in my on back yard at the country club. Just sit out on the veranda and watch 'em light up the sky. I'm having a family cook-out thing tomorrow evening. My 18 year old kid-nephew went off and joined the Marines. He leaves in a couple weeks, so I'm having a little family deal for him.

Welcome, SASOB.

LC, take video and put it on your website through Youtube.

Happy 4th

It's getting to where in Californicate you can't even have Safe and Sane fireworks. Not even in the city.

Course, in this county, fireworks of all kinds have been illegal since before I was born.

We almost bought some good ones in Nevada but couldn't figure out where we could set them off without getting caught or starting a fire.

Exactly! Where did personal responsibility go? And why can't we teach it to citizens for safe fireworks, driving automobiles, etc... It's only by a miracle to me that there aren't more traffic accidents considering all of the misunderstandings of traffic laws. To me it would be so simple for people to be required to go to a school and pass a test (written or driving) in order to drive. Here in AZ, all you have to do is a three point turn, and drive around a neighborhood. That says nothing of your knowledge of more complex driving situations, defensive driving, or being able to get out of emergency situations. The stupidity is overwhelming...
