TWC was scrambling around at the last minute, wrapping up projects, and packing for the Road Trip last month and, like an idiot, I forgot to pay the registration fees for the politically incorrect foreign pickup truck that's made in the USA. Goes like a house a'fire when you push down on that skinny pedal on the right, too.
Technology is grand. One of my favorite rides was a Chevy El Camino with the same size motor (same color, too), Offy High Rise, Holley dual feed, four speed, and a slick little streetable cam. It was quick, sounded good, and on occasion, some scantily clad teen age girl would flash a smile my direction.
The Nissan Titan? One hundred more horsepower on the ground than the El Camino had at the flywheel. Way, way, way better gas mileage, even though it's much larger and heaver (read: more comfortable), it'll tow a loaded Santa Fe freight train, it's got 4WD, and if your blathering away on an empty stretch of interstate you're heart's gonna stop when you notice the orange tipped needle quivering way over to the right. It's that smooth.
No smiles from the scantily clad, though.
Californicate says the truck is a commercial vehicle subject to additional weight fees of $154.00. Total of $501.00 bucks out the door including the $85.00 charge for paying the freight thirteen days late. That's the price you pay for having the worst roads in America.
Good thing Governor Schwarzzengroper cut the car tax, otherwise it would have been.....wait for it....FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS. For one year license and registration.
That's Arnie's one and only shining moment in an administration plagued with incompetence and massive spending. I'm hard pressed to think of anyone who could have done a worse job as governor, and, of course, nobody has. Not even Moonbeam.
