Good Morning Gentle Readers,
TWC is a bit partial to big robust red wine and the Syrah did not disappoint. Truth is, though, it was better last night. I'm not sure if it is moving toward turned (on its way to vinegar) or if TWC should not be following a bone dry, medium bodied Merlot with a big, thick, rich Syrah. Saturday night it was great. Sunday night, not so much. Go figure.
It is a Rick Henderson certified alcohol bomb at 15.1%, but hey, I don't hold that against any wine. Better than most Aussie Shiraz' and decent in the glass, even tonight. For those who don't know, Shiraz = Syrah. Same grape except the California incarnations tend not to be so peppery/spicey. Often, Oz Shiraz (that rhymes, Dude) can be a bit on the medicinal side. Cough syrup, baby. Not always, but often enough to be wary.
Some good friends passed that bottle to me and I'm grateful for it. I'd drink it again.
