Good Morning Gentle Readers,
The nature of my work keeps me indoors in the spring more than I prefer, but I sneak out now and again to snatch a quick snort of fresh allergens.
Alstroemeria is often called Peruvian Lilly. They're native to Chile and Brazil and offer a stunning array of colors across the entire palette. Alstroemeria is also more widely available then they were twenty years ago when I propagated my first plant from a bouquet I brought to Mrs TWC for St Vals.
These guys don't like hot sunny afternoons and will do far better with dappled afternoon shade with full morning sun. They go dormant in cold weather and hard freezes may kill the tuberous roots. Hot summers don't impress them much, neither.
As Ever,
TWC
