Mrs TWC on Charter Schools
Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Mrs TWC has an ongoing dust up at the LA Times for the rest of the week.
Thanks for your interest.
As Always,
TWC
The focus is red wine and to get right to it without distraction, click The Wine Commonsewer Speaks. The rest of the enchilada is just enough of an eclectic mix of commentary on culture, food, tax, and econ 101 to distract from the focus on red wine.

Good Morning Gentle Readers,
For those of you who missed 20/20 with John Stossel, Bailouts & Bull%#@&, Friday night, here's the segment with Mrs TWC (Lisa Snell).
If you can't see the video, go here.
Sidebar: The medical marijuana segment was infuriatingly well done.
Thanks for your interest.
As Always,

There is already a lively debate at the ABC website (previews/trailers, too). Mrs TWC requests that skeptics of universal, tax-paid, government run preschool go the the site and leave a comment.
Thanks for your interest and your support.
As Always,
TWC
Mrs TWC on Jerry Hughes Straight Talk radio show right now. Listen Live: http://www.accentradionetwork.com/st.htm
Good Morning Gentle Readers,
On Friday, March 13 don't miss the ABC News 20/20 special, Bailouts, Big Government and Bull, hosted by John Stossel.
John Stossel interviews Mrs TWC for the 20/20 show scheduled for March 13
The special features Drew Carey of Reason.tv and was inspired by several Reason.tv videos, including Universal Preschool, (hosted by Nick Gillespie and starring Mrs TWC). The video examines much ballyhooed programs that offer publicly funded preschool, and asks whether they truly help educate kids or are a waste of money.
The heat is already on*, and the show hasn't even aired yet. Starting about five minutes after the show airs on the east coast Friday night, Mrs TWC expects the switchboard here at the Casa to light up like the Las Vegas Strip on New Year's Eve. They won't be friendly calls, neither. Makes her stomach hurt just thinking about next week. You ask why, Gentle Reader? Because everybody loves tax paid universal pre-school and she's gonna call B.S. on that.
More interview pictures here.
Reason.tv is hosting a viewing party in Washington D.C. Go here.
Mrs TWC is the Director of Education at Reason Foundation and that's who this feature is showcasing. Good people, too.
As Always,
TWC
Gentle Readers,
Good Morning Gentle Readers,
He wisely advised.....Sunday School, Monday School—Neither is the Business of Government......
.....some people think that the American "public school system" is broken so they try to fix it. The truth is that public schooling is not broken. Rather, it is succeeding in its main objective—strengthening government by undermining parents.....
While I find it difficult to imagine a day where the separation of school and state is more than a proclamation, Marshall's stance has made it easier for me to do my job while also serving as a constant reminder of the eternal vigilance necessary to protect families from the state. Marshall was an eloquent champion who believed and practiced the notion that liberty starts at home.
Marshall Fritz founded the Alliance for the Separation of School and State.
His comments on The Bucket List are here.

Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Mrs TWC is in Chicago speaking at a Heritage Foundation education event.
TWC and the Boy are off to Knott's Scary Farm in a little bit. House Blonde is not. It's a little too scary.
So we're going to modified reruns. Mrs TWC has written extensively about Locke High School in LAUSD, which is sort of a poster child for all that's wrong with public education in America.
On March 17, 2005, 15-year-old Delusa Allen was shot in the head while leaving Locke High School in Los Angeles, sending her into intensive care and eventually killing her.
Despite what you may think about the state of public education, it ain't your suburban school. It's the schools at the margins, the kids who've been kicked to the curb and are locked into a system where it's a good week on campus if no kid bloodied the restroom tile. The mind numbs in disbelief at the callous disregard for the welfare of these school kids.
Mrs TWC provided the fodder and then got Steve Barr together with the boys at Reason. The result is this stunning video. If this don't bring a tear for the children (or a tear of joy for the children) you got ice in your heart, man.
The film was written, produced, and edited by Ted Balaker (one of John Stossel's wunderkinds). Ted likes a nice glass of the red now and again and I'm really, really, trying to get past the name dropping here. Sorry. I believe Paul Feine shot some of the footage as did ace cinematographer, PF Bentley. More about the Drew Carey project here.
Mrs TWC is Director of Education at Reason Foundation.
If you can't see the video, it's here.
As Always,
TWC

Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Just finished up with some purple and blue octopus ice cream courtesy of Play Doh and the House Blond.
The real reason I've asked you all here is to let you know that Mrs TWC will be live in Nashville Thursday morning around 6:30 AM PDT (Should be just after 8:30 AM local). Sorry about the short notice, it happens that way sometimes.
That'll be Supertalk 99.7, Nashville Tennessee, on the Ralph Bristol show.
Listen live here.
She'll be talking about Tennessee's universal pre-school program, considered the gold standard of universal pre-school programs.
As Ever,
TWC
Gentle Readers,
I received several emails about Lisa & Shikah's mention on the Limbaugh program on Friday (thanks to all who wrote) but it turns out that they're also the number one story on Rush Limbaugh's web page as well.
Mrs TWC was a guest on the Limbaugh show once. With guest host, Walter Williams.
As Ever,
TWC
