The rainbow shimmered and vanished and reappeared several times over the space of an hour. Since we could see both ends of it touching the ground one would assume that there would be a pot of gold at each end.

This fire came to be known as The Triangle Freeway Complex Fire that flared up at the base of Prado Dam on the Santa Ana River. It was thought to have been ignited by stopped traffic on nearby Highway 71.
The lights you see are Corona Ca and the fire is burning west toward Yorba Linda where it will eventually burn more than 125 homes.

With the exception of one very unusual late spring thunder storm, this May in Southern California has meant June. We've been suffering; trapped in the throes of So Cal's notorious and detestable June Gloom until today.
That smaller peak in the lower distant center is Mt Wilson in LA some 75-80 miles from here.

From Casa de las Rocas Grande looking due west through Santa Ana Canyon (center) toward Yorba Linda (right side of the canyon end) and ultimately LAX at lands-end. Aircraft landing lights are fruequently visible from the LAX landing pattern some 90 miles away. Corona lies along the base of the Santa Ana Mountains to the left as they rise into Saddleback Peak which is just out of the picture on the left. Lake Mathews to the right.
