Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Took The Boy for a bacon omelette and hash browns at the local Denny's this morning so he wouldn't have to sit through one of those really boring films they show in first period on the last day of the trimester. Gah.
TWC is no fan of Lenny's, but as Denny's go, this one is better than most. The service is good and the guys can cook eggs that come out over-medium every time. We like the one red headed waitress that fusses over Jacob and calls us babies, which comes out more like beebees (sort of all run together into one syllable). Need anything else, beebees? She wants him to eat his toast, which he never does, and she thinks it's cute that he orders coffee (with cream).
I woulda let him just stay home, except he had to turn in his science project.
Jake and his friend Blake built this in a couple of afternoons out of a balloon, a mousetrap, some Lego parts, a block of wood, and a lot of tape and hot melt glue.
It's powered by the red balloon which is pulled taut as you turn the back wheels, which winds the string around the axle, pulling the power pole down, which is glued and taped to the mousetrap spring. Once the string is fully wound around the axle, you let go. The balloon pulls the mousetrap spring upward causing the power pole to rise, which pulls the string, which forces the dragster slicks (big fat back tires) to turn, and then moves the car slowly forward.
Rube Goldberg has nothing on these boys.
As Ever,
TWC
Hot Tip: Y'all need to skip past the Denny's at I-10 & 79 in Beaumont (California, not Texas). Ghastly bad food. Miltie and I met up there one morning with the cherubs and we really should have assassinated the cooks and the clean up crew before we left.
