Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Though often sold when still yellow (to keep you from mistaking them for oranges or tangerines) Meyer lemons go orange at maturity.
Meyer Lemon Drop Martini
- Two ounces simple syrup made with zest of one Meyer lemon
- Juice of two Meyer lemons
- Three ounces vodka
Combine a handful of crushed ice, lemon juice, vodka, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into chilled martini glasses.
Simple Syrup
Combine one ounce of water, one ounce of sugar, and the lemon zest in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir until sugar dissolves. This recipe can be doubled infinitely. One part sugar, one part water, zest of one Meyer lemon. A jigger makes it easy to measure the ingredients.
