Good Morning Gentle Readers,
For several weeks, TWC has been trying to decide what kind of varmints are getting at the Cabernet grapes. Might be birds, but it doesn't look exactly that way. Birds are indiscriminate, they peck everything and settle on the ripe fruit. The ripe grapes are gone, but the green grapes are untouched. Not even a peck. Could be rabbits, but the damage is too high in the vine, even standing up on their hind legs, the rabbits can't reach. Rats are always a possibility, they are insidious, but there's Kramer. On Rat Patrol. Kramer sort of lives down the hill where the fruit and veggies grow, so not that likely. The pest has been pretty selective. It only eats the ripe grapes and never so much as pays the slightest attention to a green grape.
Sunday night rolls around and it's time to take the dogs down the hill to do their business. Except I'm moving slow and it takes a couple of extra minutes to hobble on down there and join them. What do I see when I get down there? This:
Who knew that Beans loved grapes? The dog sniffs out the ripe grapes. Watched him do it. Now that is one incredible sense of smell.
As Always,
