Good Morning Gentle Readers,
Back in the Pleistocene, Mike Bloomfield and Electric Flag did an awesome cover of my theme song at Monterey. It's a great blues rendition and the song has held up well. I believe that Nick Gravenites sang something about feckin' good wine (We Report. You Decipher™). I am tempted to just leave it at that. This is some pretty feckin' good wine. It's priced in the mid-teens from the winery, but could get pricier in the stores.
Rotto is a century old winery and is one of the first three wineries in the Paso Robles appellation.
Back in the days of my vagrant yoot™.....
College students and surfers from the south would drive up to ROTTA (one of three wineries in Paso Robles at the time) and purchase gallon jugs of wine for $2.25. Romilda “Momma” Rotta would fill up the jugs and if you brought your own, she’d take $0.50 off the price.
Winemaker Notes:
Rotta 2013 Red blend consists of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petite Sirah. The wine is very young, but has incredible structure - with big tannins, bold fruit and a touch of toasted oak on the finish, the mouthwatering acidity ensure that it pairs quite nicely with anything from grilled rib-eye, to weeknight pasta dishes.
TWC™ really enjoyed this wine, as did the missus, who rarely asks for a second glass.
Unfortunately, Mike's mic was non-functional, but not the guitar pickup. Enjoy.
As Ever,
